Here I was, all proud of myself, thinking that I was caught up on pedigrees. Nope! I made a few adjustments to my "indoor" photo set up and took a 2nd batch of photos EARLY this morning. One of the horses I dug out for the photo shoot was a special run from the 2012 Breyer event in San Diego, "Palisades." And now I remember why she has languished without a name or pedigree. I'm torn between making her a Clydesdale or North American Spotted Draft. Hmm...
Stand back! Alert the media! Mark this day in history! *grin* The red dun QH that was listed as unnamed/un-pedigreed from my "flurry o' photos" has a pedigree and a name, and I have had him for less than 1 week! Very little Pedigree ADD this time around... Let me introduce:
SHINE LIKE EINSTEIN 2009 red dun QH stallion Sire: Einsteins Revolution (r) [Great Resolve x Fly Flashy Jac] Dam: Shine Like Diamonds [Colonel Rey Lena (r) x Genuine Diamond] A seamless reining pedigree. Sire has LTE $352,720 - AQHA ROM with 46 reining points; his sire has LTE $147,377, Congress Open Reining Futurity Champion, NRHA Futurity - 3rd place. Dam is a photo show multi-champion; her sire was a NRHA Reserve World Champion, her dam is a full sister to Shining Spark (r). Stone OF DAH FCM ISH And while we're acknowledging my recent lack of Pedigree ADD fits, I also decided on a pedigree/name for my soon-to-arrive Breyer Premier "Wyatt" (thank you, Vicki!). I definitely wanted to bring another speed-bred sire to the herd and I tried to pick lines that I thought would compliment my very-much performance-oriented band: BIGTIME CARTEL 2010 gray (bay) QH stallion Sire: Bigtime Favorite SI-102 (r) [Chicks Beduino SI-104 x Ms Dashin Bigtime SI-90] Dam: Strawberry Cartel SI-91 (r) [Corona Cartel SI-97 x Strawberry Silk SI-105] Sire is a stakes-winning grandson of First Down Dash. Dam carries the lgendary lines of two of the best mares in recent history: Corona Chick and Strawberry Silk. PHOTO OF FOAL REQUESTED Breyer OF Premier Club "Wyatt" So, I've been meaning to get a photo session in with my "new" indoor backdrop. However, trying to configure a lighting set-up AND find a spot in the house that gave me enough room for everything was giving me fits. Why can't everyone just clear their stuff out and then I'd have LOADS of room, LOL! Yeah, that was not going to happen. *grin* So, several weeks ago I dashed out to my covered patio to see if I could make something work. Not wanting to drag out my Traditional-scale photo shoot set-up, I slap-dashed my "small"-scale set-up onto a patio side table and grabbed a hasty photo just to see if it would work. The backdrop is the same for my Traditional-scale "indoor" backdrop, just scaled down. Not bad! A little glare on the backdrop, but not too bad... And remember, this was (literally) a case of grab stuff-run out-hastily set this up-snap photo. Oh, and the weather was ramping up to our most recent heat wave, so if I recall correctly it was about 100 degrees that day. Blurg! Hence, why no further photos followed... Until today. I took the plunge and set up my Traditional scale photo set-up. Still some glare issues that I'm not completely happy about, but it beats the heck out of schlepping this stuff around in the sun and fighting winds. The winds were coming from the North this morning, and towards the end of my photo shoot I was getting worried about the backdrop getting blown over. However, ANY wind when I take photos in the sun cause major havoc with my set-up so this was a decent compromise, I thought. Most of the horses already had pedigrees in place, or I have sent off breeding requests for their pedigrees (Cory received a couple from this group). One had her sire and dam assigned but I could NOT decide on a name. Problem solved... (Step Into Starlite) HA! Anyway, here are the results of my "indoor" (under the patio cover) photo shoot: I'm still not completely happy with the glossy finished horses' photos, but they'll do... Oh, and to top it all off, the battery started to die in my digital camera. Hence, why I didn't get more horses photographed.
Yes, this is that blue roan Roxy I hinted at in my previous post. My friends (and visitors to my irregularly-updated blog) have all heard my trials with Pedigree Attention Deficit Disorder. *grin*
First, a little information on the actual model. Most "older" hobbyists involved in pedigree research and assignment will know the artist -- Suzanne Feld! Suzanne had a lovely herd, and I did manage to get several horses pedigreed directly from her herd. I also was lucky enough to have Suzanne paint a couple models for me, "back in the day," and they are still in my "black hole collection." Due to life and health happenings, Suzanne removed her "sire/dam list" and took a break from the hobby. After reconnecting on Facebook, I was following Suzanne's model horse painting and saw the lovely blue roan Roxy several months back. *drool* I guess there's no need to tell you how much I *love* the Roxy mold. And blue roan?!? *hop* My hopes were dashed, as the caption on the photos when Suzanne originally posted them indicated "NFS," or not for sale. Drat. Fast-forward a couple months, and Suzanne put this lovely gal on her sales list. Well, poop! I figured someone would snatch her up, straight away. Imagine my surprise as she languished on Suzanne's sales list. Finally, I could no longer resist and I emailed Suzanne. YAY!!! The blue roan Roxy was mine, ALL MINE! LOL! Once the elation wore off, my Pedigree ADD kicked in. It was slow at first. I had originally thought to use One Time Pepto (r) as her sire. As I kicked around options to be her dam, I started coming back to my relatively-newly-pedigreed blue roan QH stallion, Smooth Like A Cat (Smooth As A Cat -r x Autumn Boon -r). I already have one of his daughters in my herd, so I wasn't sure about adding another one so soon. And then, I FOUND HER! The. Perfect. Mare. You know what I mean: the perfectly-colored-named-pedigreed mare to cross on Smooth Like A Cat: Margarita Por Favor (r)!!! SQUEE!!! But then, immediately I went to Smooth Like Patron for her name... I told Cory H. to STOP me, but she didn't. ;-) So, the blue roan Roxy is now: Smooth Like Patron 2011 blue (black) roan QH mare Sire: Smooth Like A Cat [Smooth As A Cat (r) x Autumn Boon (r)] Dam: Margarita Por Favor (r) [Nic It In The Bud x Smart Hippie Chic] Sire is a full brother to the outstanding young blue roan stallion, Ima Smooth Blue Cat, who was exported to Australia; he is sired by a NCHA Horse of the Year and has sired offspring who have earned more than $11million; his dam was inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame. Dam is a NRCHA money-earner; her sire has LTE $132,198, placed 3rd at the AQHA World Show in Jr Reining, was the '01 NRCHA Open Stallion Stakes Champion, '03 NRCHA Worlds Greatest Horseman Reserve Champion with Todd Bergen, placed 7th at the '00 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open, and was a finalist in NRHA Open Futurity; her dam is a full sister to Chic Please. |
