Yes, this is that blue roan Roxy I hinted at in my previous post. My friends (and visitors to my irregularly-updated blog) have all heard my trials with Pedigree Attention Deficit Disorder. *grin*
First, a little information on the actual model. Most "older" hobbyists involved in pedigree research and assignment will know the artist -- Suzanne Feld! Suzanne had a lovely herd, and I did manage to get several horses pedigreed directly from her herd. I also was lucky enough to have Suzanne paint a couple models for me, "back in the day," and they are still in my "black hole collection." Due to life and health happenings, Suzanne removed her "sire/dam list" and took a break from the hobby. After reconnecting on Facebook, I was following Suzanne's model horse painting and saw the lovely blue roan Roxy several months back. *drool* I guess there's no need to tell you how much I *love* the Roxy mold. And blue roan?!? *hop* My hopes were dashed, as the caption on the photos when Suzanne originally posted them indicated "NFS," or not for sale. Drat. Fast-forward a couple months, and Suzanne put this lovely gal on her sales list. Well, poop! I figured someone would snatch her up, straight away. Imagine my surprise as she languished on Suzanne's sales list. Finally, I could no longer resist and I emailed Suzanne. YAY!!! The blue roan Roxy was mine, ALL MINE! LOL!
Once the elation wore off, my Pedigree ADD kicked in. It was slow at first. I had originally thought to use One Time Pepto (r) as her sire. As I kicked around options to be her dam, I started coming back to my relatively-newly-pedigreed blue roan QH stallion, Smooth Like A Cat (Smooth As A Cat -r x Autumn Boon -r). I already have one of his daughters in my herd, so I wasn't sure about adding another one so soon. And then, I FOUND HER! The. Perfect. Mare. You know what I mean: the perfectly-colored-named-pedigreed mare to cross on Smooth Like A Cat: Margarita Por Favor (r)!!! SQUEE!!! But then, immediately I went to Smooth Like Patron for her name... I told Cory H. to STOP me, but she didn't. ;-) So, the blue roan Roxy is now:
Smooth Like Patron
2011 blue (black) roan QH mare
Sire: Smooth Like A Cat [Smooth As A Cat (r) x Autumn Boon (r)]
Dam: Margarita Por Favor (r) [Nic It In The Bud x Smart Hippie Chic]
Sire is a full brother to the outstanding young blue roan stallion, Ima Smooth Blue Cat, who was exported to Australia; he is sired by a NCHA Horse of the Year and has sired offspring who have earned more than $11million; his dam was inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame. Dam is a NRCHA money-earner; her sire has LTE $132,198, placed 3rd at the AQHA World Show in Jr Reining, was the '01 NRCHA Open Stallion Stakes Champion, '03 NRCHA Worlds Greatest Horseman Reserve Champion with Todd Bergen, placed 7th at the '00 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open, and was a finalist in NRHA Open Futurity; her dam is a full sister to Chic Please.
